Mid October each year, close to 200,000 visitors attend the ever so popular and unique Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival.
Years ago, my husband Robert and I attended the festival and, while watching the parade, we were rather intrigued by a group called "Macabre Dancers," all clad in black hooded robes, their faces painted in a white and black skull like fashion, dancing while playing "ancient" instruments and drums. Weird sight and sounds, even a bit scary to spectators! However, it immediately ignited my husband's vivid imagination!
"I could write a story about this" he said, and added in jest: "This bunch reminds me of my Scottish ancestors!"
The story however, did not end up as a late medieval allegory theme. As our research into the occult progressed, the setting and characters came to life.
Creativity turned the story into intriguing, dramatic and devastating plots, filled with dark and light magic, and an enormous culminating challenge faced to eradicate all evil!
On a personal note, I feel ever so privileged to have been able to share the research, the series of events and settings in the story. All in all, a memorable, formidable package filled with unforgettable moments and supporting friends, all the wonderful Half Moon Bay locals with whom we finally celebrated the birth of "The Coven" in book form!
"Now let's make a movie" was the anonymous suggestion!
If you like The Coven, spread the word, tell a friend!
I thank you!
